Custom Resolution Skyrim
Skyrim allows you to play in windowed mode, it even gives you a host of different standard resolutions, but what if you have an awkward set up or just are used to playing games in 1000 x 2000. Luckily for you, you can tweak the ini and use whatever resolution tickles your fancy.
The Skyrim .ini Tweak:
Open ../Documents/My Games/Skyrim/Skyrim.ini
Add these lines:
iSize W=(desired resolution X)
iSize H=(desired resolution Y)
Save and launch Skyrim.
The Skyrim .ini Tweak:
Open ../Documents/My Games/Skyrim/Skyrim.ini
Add these lines:
iSize W=(desired resolution X)
iSize H=(desired resolution Y)
Save and launch Skyrim.

Disable V-Sync in Skyrim
V-Sync has been documents as the cause of lots of crashes and errors in Skyrim. Luckily there is a tweak in the ini you can do to turn V-Sync off permanently. This should increase stability, even if you do not have any crashing it is recommended to disable V-Sync.
The Skyrim .ini Tweak:
Open ../Documents/My Games/Skyrim/SkyrimPrefs.ini
Add this line following the final line:
iPresentInterval=0
Save and launch Skyrim.
