Why is Restoration Bad Ass
Restoration is one of the most bad ass skills because... because it keeps you alive, period. What, living isn't good enough? Seriously.

Increasing Restoration Skill in Skyrim
Increasing any magicka skill is done by repeatedly casting the abilitie. Combat abilities must be used in combat, and non combat abilities do not contribute as much as they are always able to be used. Increasing Restoration shares similarities with Destruction with having a certain flow and natural nature to the level. You will either use this skill set or not, and if you do choose to use it, without forcing it, it will level up nicely with you.

Restoration Tips
Do not forget that many of the difficult enemies in this game, such as the Dragon Priests, are undead. Against undead Restoration is a very powerful combat magic, allowing you to basically crowd control them indefinitely, if not just keep them off of you.
