Enchanting : Elder Scrolls Skyrim
One of 18 skills in The Elder Scrolls Skyrim V : Skyrim, Enchanting is a crafting skill which falls under the mage play style.
Why is Enchanting Bad Ass
Enchanting is one of the most bad ass skills because not only do you wield the raw essence of magic in your hands, you can imbue them in the most ridiculous items. Enchant a Chef's Hat with increased Two-Handed skill and increased Pickpocket success rate, and watch as you complete quests looking like Gordon Ramsay. Not only is this awesome, it's practical. Did I mention that it allows you to rename items?!? Rename that Chef's Hat, Solidified Owl Semen Carved Hat of the Barbarian. Just rolls off the tongue.
To enchant you need to have learned an enchantment, gained from disenchanting (and destroying) a piece of enchanted gear you own. You will learn that enchantment permanently. A piece of gear you wish to enchant, and a filled soul gem. The more powerful the soul trapped in the gem the more powerful the enchantment.
Note all enchantments can be placed on all item types.

What does Enchanting Affect
Enchanting skill affects the strength of the enchants you wish to lay down on your Chef's Hats. It has an effect on the amount of charges and value of an enchanted item. This is important because Enchanting is used a lot for money making schemes as every crafting skill is. As with all other skills in Skyrim, increasing the skill allows you access to powerful perks (pictured right) that allow you to get more out of soul gems and if you work hard enough, double up on enchants.
Increasing Enchanting Skill in Skyrim
You gain skill in Archery by hitting enemies with your arrows. Firing at the sun will do nothing.

Enchanting Tips
Make sure to hold on to enchanted items to disenchant, even though you don't make any gold from selling them, having access to that enchantment in the future is well worth it.
If you are going to improve the weapon or armor with Smithing, do it before you enchant it as you need a perk withing Smithing to enchant magical items.
There are potions found and made with Alchemy that temporarily improve Enchanting for a short period of time.
