Races : Elder Scrolls Skyrim
There are countless races within Skyrim's lore. In Skyrim there are 10 playable races available and many other non playable.
Skyrim Race Information
With Skyrim there are tons of races, all with different history, values, skin problems and prejudice. In the beginning of the game during the character creation segment, you are forced to choose who and what you are. As with every character in the game, who you are has an affect on what you are good at, and what special Powers you have access to.
Example
This means for instance that if you fight a Nord inside Skyrim, you better not use Frost spells because he has 50% resistance- like you will have if you chose a Nord.
Story Lore Changes
Depending on what you choose, it will also change how some people react to you. Dunmer (Dark Elves) are seen as trash and really don't have a place in Skyrim, where as Nords have an entire story arc and sense of belonging to a civil war that is happening during the game.
Different characters can greatly alter the feeling of your experience, empathizing with the plights of your chosen people increases the role playing experience, but also makes you a bigger loser.
How Can I Be The Coolest Possible
Easily. Choose an Argonian, not only do these have bonuses in Lockpicking and Pickpocketing- the baller skills... You are a giant walking lizard, and if anyone ever accuses you of something you can just play the race card, "You think I stole because I'm a giant walking bad ass lizard, right?"... Then they let you go. The perfect crime.

Power: Berserker Rage
Racial Bonus: Look like a bad ass.
Starting Skill Bonuses: +10 Heavy Armor, +5 Block, Enchanting, One-Handed, Smithing & Speech.

Redguard (Black Guys) Race Skyrim
Power: Adrenaline Rush

Starting Skill Bonuses: +10 One-Handed, +5 Archery, Alteration, Block, Destruction & Smithing
These are the black guys in Skyrim. There are only a few token ones scattered around. No one really plays these guys, for some reason you end up in jail... a lot. Because no one wants to mix gene pools with you, your One-Handed skill is much higher than everyone else's. He-yo.

The game just makes more sense playing as a Nord. This is their native homeland and if you want to join in the racial bigotry you really need to be a Nord to not be a hypocrite.

Racial Bonus: Claw Attacks (Unarmed does +15 damage)
Starting Skill Bonuses: +10 Sneak, +5 Alchemy, Archery, Lockpicking, Pickpocket & One-Handed.
This is a race full of walking cats, they're like Dr. Suess but not funny. They seem to always be strung out on Skooma (Elders Scrolls Heroine) and generally are just terrible people.. er felines. Calling them Khajiit (their name) is also greatly offensive to them. Touchy buncha cats.

Thalmor Race Skyrim
The Thalmor race are a group of Elven Supremacists who basically have all of Tamriel's balls in a vice. They are the ruling government of the Aldmeri Dominion and they recently just got out of a war where they beating the Empire into a bloody pulp.
The Thalmor play a big part in Skyrim as they occupy much of Skyrim. After a treaty to stop the war was signed the Dominion's terms were that the Empire must stop it's worship of Talos, the Thalmor are here to see to that... and maybe more...

Falmer Race Skyrim
The Falmer are a type of elf that took refuge in the snowy mountains and climates of Skyrim. Dubbed snow elves, they sought shelter within the caves and caverns of the mountain and ancient Dwermer ruins, the Falmer are blind as many years of living in pitch black environments have made sight not a requirement for survival.
These elves burn nicely, taking extra damage to fire and like Diablo 2, enjoy dropped their ears which can be ground up to make poisons!
